Universal Moves Up 'The Kingdom,' 'Eastern Promises' HD DVDs

December 13, 2007

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has just officially confirmed a pair of new theatrical HD DVD titles have been issued a street date change. The Kingdom and Eastern Promises, originally scheduled for release on December 26, will arrive in stores three days earlier on December 23.

The move puts these titles on shelves before Christmas as opposed to after, mirroring a similar move made by New Line with Rush Hour 3. We've always questioned the odd December 26 date so these street date changes aren't a huge surprise. They're more like a sigh of relief.

Both titles are presented on Combo Format HD DVD discs and carry an SRP of $39.98. Online retailers have not updated their listings to reflect the street date change, but should be doing so momentarily.
