Universal Exec Touts Wanted on Blu-ray

Variety.com is reporting Wanted kicked off the L.A. Film Festival in style, drawing applause at least a half-dozen times for the stylistic Timur Bekmambetov-directed action sequences.

While Universal has high hopes for Wanted's potential box office success, at least one executive is convinced Wanted can be the Blu-ray Disc title to provide the format its biggest boost to date.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment President Craig Kornblau chimed in after the screening, "What 'The Matrix' did for DVD, this could do for Blu-ray."

That's a bold statement considering Wanted has yet to arrive in theaters. But it's reassuring to know Universal appears to be putting their best foot forward with the forthcoming Blu-ray treatment.

Right now, we're more interested in seeing if Bekmambetov can atone for the utter weirdness that was Day Watch.
