Will Fox finally announce a release date for Firefly: The Complete Series on Blu-ray Disc this week? I'd say the odds are favorable given recent developments at Amazon.com this past week.

The Firefly watch began when Amazon added a product listing for the title with a list price and an Amazon price. This is significant because unlike Amazon "placeholders," pricing is typically received directly from the studio suggesting an official product.

"Placeholders" are given to any title Amazon has caught wind of whether slated to come out or not. The Original Star Wars Trilogy on Blu-ray has a "placeholder" and we all know that's not hyperdriving into stores anytime soon.

If the listing with pricing wasn't enough to tip us off to a Firefly announcement in the coming days or weeks, the addition of Blu-ray cover art at Amazon over the weekend certainly has. Amazon has even gone as far as placing Firefly on Blu-ray at the top of its main Blu-ray page. Surely Fox must be wise to this, if they aren't in on it.

Speculation aside, you can secure your Firefly: The Complete Series on Blu-ray at Amazon for $62.95, considerably less than the $89.98 list price.
